Writing is a hobby of mine. I first got into it after playing a video game, actually--Bioware's "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic." I was obsessed with that game, and since playing it wasn't enough I decided to try online role playing. I got pretty detailed with my character bios and really enjoyed crafting their lives and personalities within the context of the Star Wars universe.
It was a lot of fun. I probably did that for about...two or so years? Perhaps more.
Eventually, I picked up, on my own volition, my first fantasy book (late bloomer here): Martha Wells' The Wizard Hunters from the The Fall of Ile-Rien series . Loved it. The characters, worldbuilding--the worldbuilding especially--the dialogue, everything. I was instantly inspired to try my own hand at writing.
So, I did.
My journey has been a long, tedious one. I restarted my fantasy "novel" about seven and a half times (hence the name of my blog), all with slightly different premises. Luckily, by draft v7.5 I was actually satisfied with much of what I wrote. I finally found the combination of concept, perspective, characters, settings, and plot I was looking for. Now, I just have to edit it.
Meh.
The title I've given my novel, for now, is Element 7, though it may certainly be subject to change. I'm planning on writing a series (whether or not I can sell it) and already have parts of the sequel written and/or mapped out in my head, but we'll see how the first one goes initially.
